National Bandanna Day: 26 October

I grew up as a teenager knowing all about the wonderful work of CanTeen Australia and regularly donned a bandanna for National Bandanna Day.

This year they have really stepped it up a notch and launched Bandanna Art, an iPhone and iPad app that has been created and developed by Tribal DDB and CanTeen. The world-first app allows people to design a 100% customized bandanna that is then delivered to their door, with all proceeds going to CanTeen.

CanTeen is an Australian organisation that supports and empowers young people living with cancer. Each year, to raise funds and awareness, the organization holds National Bandanna Day on the 26th October — a day where people show their support by purchasing and wearing a bandanna. We’ve seen firsthand the great work CanTeen does for young people and it really is an amazing organisation that needs your support.

The app is a great utility by itself, but as a supporting device and accompaniment to National Bandanna Day, it’s inspiring. The video featured on the website explains a little about how Bandanna Art is a great progression for CanTeen and National Bandanna Day.

The app is free to download and use, you can create as many bandannas as you like and share them. If you would like to buy your bandanna you can do that too; each bandanna is $19.95. There are also lots of bandannas in the online web gallery that you can buy.

It’s a world-first to use an iOS app to create a printed real-world item that is 100% unique.
